MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, surpassed T-Series and became the most-subscribed channel on the web. He fulfilled a promise he made to PewDiePie at the beginning of 2023. Even Elon Musk wished Mr Beast well on his feat.
MrBeast shared a screenshot comparing his subscriber count with T-Series to announce the news on X. He wrote that he had finally avenged PewDiePie after 6 years. The screenshot showed that MrBeast had over 266 million followers, surpassing the music giant’s subscriber count.
Dominance of T-Series
Following the death of his father, the legendary Gulshan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar assumed the position of head of T-Series in 1997. The music group now produces Bollywood musicals as well. It has produced hit films like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Animal, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
For many years, T-Series has held the top spot on YouTube. It reached the 200-million subscriber mark in 2021. The popularity of MrBeast has grown rapidly, with the number of subscribers reaching the same level by October 2023.
The Rise of MrBeast
After surpassing 250 million subscribers in April 2024, his main channel became one of the fastest-growing on YouTube. On X (formerly Twitter), Mr Beast wrote, “After six years, we have finally avenged PewDiePie.” He showed a screenshot of his channel, which had 1,608 more subscribers than T-Series. As congratulations poured in, one of the biggest ones came from Elon Musk himself. Musk wrote, “Wow, Congrats!” Mr Beast’s post on X garnered over ten million views, prompting numerous memes from social media users.

In an interview with Jon Youshaei, MrBeast said, “I got a little ‘this country versus that country’ feeling. It got a little racist in the sub-war before, but I don’t think Felix took it there. Therefore, I’m very aware of it, which is why I’m not leaning into it too hard. I would like to be the most subscribed channel. I’ve got a lot of people helping me, but at the end of the day, I started this channel. This is my life. I’m a maker.”
